An in-depth overview of Gate TradFi Copy Trading, detailing the fundamentals of TradFi Copy Trading, the application process for Lead Traders, step-by-step guides for Copiers, the profit-sharing model, risk control strategies, and the main distinctions from Futures Copy Trading—designed to help newcomers get up to speed quickly.

What Is Gate TradFi Copy Trading?

Gate TradFi Copy Trading is a professional-grade copy trading service developed by Gate for traditional financial markets. "TradFi" stands for Traditional Finance, covering mainstream asset classes such as gold, forex, indices, commodities, and leading US stocks.

Unlike direct trading of underlying assets, Gate TradFi Copy Trading operates through Contracts for Difference (CFDs) linked to these assets. Users speculate on price movements without the need to buy or hold physical gold, stocks, or forex spot, resulting in greater flexibility and more efficient trading.

TradFi Copy Trading on Gate features two main roles: Lead Traders, who conduct live trading and share their strategies on the platform, and Copiers, who proportionally mirror the Lead Trader’s actions. When a Lead Trader opens, closes, or partially reduces a position, the system automatically synchronizes these actions for Copiers, making it easier for individuals to participate in global traditional financial markets.

Core Features of Gate TradFi Copy Trading

Gate TradFi Copy Trading’s core advantage is the seamless integration of professional trading capabilities, automated copy mechanisms, and transparent performance tracking.

  1. Expanded asset coverage. Unlike single-market products, TradFi Copy Trading gives users access to multiple major global markets—including gold, crude oil, forex, indices, and popular stock CFDs—enabling more diverse trading opportunities.

  2. Proportional copying based on total equity. Copiers don't just duplicate fixed-size trades; instead, they follow the Lead Trader's account equity relative to their own capital, ensuring more efficient capital utilization for users of all sizes.

  3. Flexible risk control. The platform allows Copiers to set Copy Stop Loss (SL) parameters based on their risk preferences, actively managing potential drawdown. This is especially valuable in TradFi markets, where volatility is strongly influenced by macroeconomic factors.

  4. High Water Mark (HWM) profit-sharing. Profit-sharing only occurs when a Copier’s net asset value exceeds its previous historical high, ensuring fairness and transparency while preventing profit-sharing on unrealized gains.

  5. Professional performance metrics. Key indicators—such as ROI, Profit/Loss (PnL), Sharpe Ratio, and Maximum Drawdown (MDD)—are displayed for each Lead Trader, allowing users to comprehensively assess strategies and risk profiles rather than focusing solely on short-term returns.

TradFi Copy Trading vs. Futures Copy Trading

TradFi Copy Trading and Futures Copy Trading are often confused, but they differ significantly in trading instruments, account structures, and profit-sharing models.

  • Trading markets: TradFi Copy Trading covers traditional financial products like gold, forex, indices, commodities, and stock CFDs. Futures Copy Trading focuses on crypto asset contracts, serving different markets and trading styles.

  • Account structure: TradFi Copy Trading uses a dedicated Lead Trading Account system, separate from the Main Account. Even if you have an active TradFi Trading Account, you can still apply to become a Lead Trader.

  • Copy logic: TradFi Copy Trading emphasizes proportional copying based on total equity and supports partial close synchronization, closely mirroring the Lead Trader’s execution rhythm.

  • Profit-sharing: Gate TradFi Copy Trading features a High Water Mark mechanism with periodic settlements, ensuring profit-sharing aligns with actual net profit growth.

TradFi Copy Trading is ideal for those interested in traditional financial markets and looking to participate in global asset price movements through professional strategies.

How to Apply to Become a Gate TradFi Lead Trader

Applying to become a Gate TradFi Lead Trader is straightforward:

  1. Meet the basic requirements. Applications must be submitted with a Main Account; Subaccounts are not supported. There’s no minimum asset requirement—just provide contact information and agree to the application terms to submit.

  2. In the Gate app, tap the main trading button at the bottom of the home screen, select "Copy Trading," choose "TradFi," then tap "Join Now" on the TradFi Copy Trading homepage to access the Lead Trader application.

Most applications are reviewed within about an hour. Upon approval, you’ll receive a direct message and email notification. If your application isn’t approved, you can revisit the application page to review the reason and resubmit after making adjustments.

For users with trading strategies who want to expand their reach and earn profit-sharing, this accessible application process creates new opportunities to showcase and monetize their skills.

Opening an Account, Transferring Funds, and Starting Trades as a Lead Trader

Once approved, a TradFi Lead Trading Account is automatically created. Access it via the main trading button at the bottom of the Gate app home page, go to "Copy Trading" – "TradFi," then tap "Lead" in the bottom navigation to view your Lead Trading Profile.

On the "My Lead Trading" page, you can review key data such as trading performance, open positions, number of Copiers, and realized profit-sharing. The "Settings" menu in the top right lets you configure parameters like the minimum copy amount and profit-sharing ratio. Note: updates to these parameters typically apply only to new Copiers.

Before initiating trades, you must transfer funds. TradFi Lead Trading supports transfers between your Spot Account and TradFi Lead Trading Account. There are three main ways to access the transfer function:

  1. Tap "Transfer" on the "My Lead Trading" page;

  2. Tap "Transfer" on the TradFi Lead Trading panel;

  3. In the app, go to "Assets" – "Copy Trading" – "TradFi Lead Trading" and tap "Transfer."

After transferring funds, you can access the TradFi trading panel, select any Trading Pair, and initiate trades from the K-line page. Eligible Copiers will automatically replicate your trades according to the configured rules.

How Copiers Get Started with TradFi Copy Trading

Getting started as a Copier is simple:

  1. Browse the Lead Trader list on the TradFi Copy Trading homepage and select a trader to follow. Tap "Copy" directly from the list or "Copy Now" on the trader’s profile.

  2. Set copy trading parameters. Enter the copy amount as prompted and configure Stop Loss (SL) as needed. Properly setting your copy amount and risk controls is essential.

  3. Review the agreement and risk reminders, confirm the information, and submit. Once successful, your copy trading relationship becomes active.

  4. On the "My Copy Trading" page, view your Copy Trading Account and current Lead Traders. In "Copy Trading Details," view positions, failed orders, profit-sharing records, and more.

  5. Tap "Manage" on the details page to adjust parameters, reallocate funds, or stop copying. Each user can follow up to five TradFi Lead Traders at once, supporting diversification and portfolio strategies.

Gate TradFi Profit-Sharing and Lead Trading Rules

When others follow your trades and generate returns, you may earn profit-sharing. The default rate is 20%, adjustable between 0% and 20% in "My Lead Trading" – "Trading Setup."

Gate TradFi Copy Trading uses a High Water Mark (HWM) profit-sharing model: profit-sharing is only triggered when a Copier’s net asset value exceeds its previous high, protecting Copiers’ interests and ensuring transparency and sustainability.

To view detailed profit-sharing, go to "My Lead Trading," tap "Realized Profit-Sharing," and review each record, including the amount contributed by each Copier.

Lead Traders can have up to 300 Copiers. To request more, contact customer support. The minimum copy amount is 100 USDT, with a supported range of 100 USDT to 1,000,000 USD.

Important Considerations Before Using Gate TradFi Copy Trading

While Gate TradFi Copy Trading lowers the barrier to traditional financial markets, it does not guarantee risk-free profits. TradFi markets are highly sensitive to macroeconomic conditions, geopolitical events, interest rate policies, and unexpected incidents, resulting in rapid and complex price fluctuations.

Lead Traders should focus on delivering stable strategies, managing drawdowns, and maintaining transparent performance to attract Copiers over the long term. Copiers should look beyond short-term ROI and consider metrics like Sharpe Ratio, Maximum Drawdown, and historical Profit/Loss (PnL) for a comprehensive evaluation.

Whether you’re applying to be a Lead Trader or choosing one to follow, it’s critical to fully understand the product rules—including account independence, fund transfer processes, Stop Loss (SL) settings, profit-sharing logic, and limits on Copiers and copy amounts.

Gate TradFi Copy Trading is more than a feature upgrade—it’s a significant step forward in Gate’s multi-asset trading ecosystem. It gives professional traders a new way to monetize strategies and provides users with an efficient gateway to global TradFi markets. If you’re seeking trading opportunities in gold, forex, indices, or stock CFDs, Gate TradFi Copy Trading deserves your attention.
