China's Ministry of State Security Warns of Data Leak Risks in AI Relay Platforms on June 8

According to China's Ministry of State Security, on June 8, AI relay platforms used by Chinese developers to access overseas AI models could expose user data, enable unauthorized cross-border data transfers, and facilitate illegal data trading. The ministry warned that some operators store user data on their own servers without adequate encryption and may operate without proper qualifications.

The warning reflects China's strict regime under the Cybersecurity Law, Data Security Law, and Personal Information Protection Law, which can require approvals for overseas transfers of personal information or important data.
