Zcash Developers Reach Consensus on Ironwood Upgrade, Introducing New Orchard Pool with Payment Restrictions

According to Foresight News, Zcash core developers led by Sean Bowe announced they have reached consensus on the Ironwood upgrade's specification changes. The upgrade will introduce a new shielded pool utilizing the Orchard protocol, while restricting payment functionality in the existing Orchard pool as a privacy protection measure—users will only retain the ability to receive change. New payments will be routed through the new pool, and users are encouraged to migrate funds from the old pool. The implementation, specification, and ecosystem support phases are underway, with multiple audits and formal verification efforts in progress.
