Polygon Releases Private Transaction Feature, Allows Sending Stablecoins Without On-Chain Detection

Polygon Labs officially launches a secret stablecoin payment feature (shielded payments) on its consumer wallet app starting Monday (5/4). In collaboration with the privacy protocol Hinkal, this feature enables users to send USDC and USDT without revealing the sender's identity, recipient, or transaction amount on the on-chain network. This move aims to bridge the significant gap between public blockchain infrastructure and the privacy needs of institutions and individuals in managing their cash flows.
Technically, this "Privately Send" feature leverages Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKP) technology that verifies transaction validity without disclosing sensitive details to the public. Although private, Polygon ensures this system remains compliant with regulations through the integration of Know Your Transaction (KYT) scanning on each transfer. Additionally, this protocol is non-custodial, so asset control remains fully in the hands of users during the transfer process through Hinkal's shielded pool.
The introduction of this feature strengthens Polygon's position in the global payment infrastructure competition. By integrating privacy directly into the wallet, Polygon not only offers technology but also provides real solutions to privacy barriers that have long hindered large fund flows into the crypto market.
