U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth likes Bitcoin and admits that the world’s largest crypto asset has been used by the United States (U.S.) as a weapon of power to fight enemy countries like China.

“I’ve been enthusiastic about Bitcoin and the potential of crypto for a long time, and many of the things we do—whether supporting it or thwarting it—are ongoing secret efforts within our department, giving us significant influence in a range of scenarios,” Hegseth said, citing various sources, Friday (01/05).

Hegseth said this following Admiral Samuel Paparo’s statement about the use of Bitcoin nodes by the U.S. Department of Defense for network security. In fact, this is a government initiative, including the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve used to counter cyber threats.

In addition, Bitcoin is said to have direct implications for power projection. Especially when Iran demands Bitcoin payments as customs duties for transit through the Strait of Hormuz.

What’s more, the U.S. believes China is secretly stockpiling large amounts of Bitcoin as part of its strategic reserves. Therefore, Bitcoin has evolved from a marginal asset into a matter of national security #GateSquareMayTradingShare
