According to New Straits Times, three South Korean men appeared in court on suspicion of kidnapping a fellow South Korean national at Genting Highlands in Malaysia and demanding a cryptocurrency ransom. The report says the kidnappers allegedly demanded that the victim’s family pay 10 million USDT, and the family ultimately paid 3 million USDT. Currently, the police have frozen and recovered 2.46 million USDT. Since the three suspects were unable to understand English or Malay, the court hearing could not officially proceed, and the judge adjourned the case to May 18, ordering that the three be denied bail.
