China said it hopes France will play an active role in encouraging the European Union to keep the market open, and to properly resolve China–EU trade and economic disputes and frictions through dialogue and negotiations.

On Saturday, the Ministry of Commerce of China issued a statement saying that China is willing to cooperate with France, strengthen China–France two-way investment, and provide a fair business environment for both sides’ investment and investment cooperation involving their enterprises.

The statement noted that Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy Chief Representative for International Trade Negotiations, Ling Ji, met on Friday with Dumen, Director General of the Treasury Department of the French Ministry of Economy, Finance, Industry, Energy, and Digital Sovereignty, and expressed high concern over the European Union’s series of foreign subsidy investigations into investment and trade activities by Chinese companies.

Ling Ji also discussed the European Union’s “Industrial Accelerator Act” and the draft amendments to the “Cybersecurity Law.” Ling Ji said that these measures will create barriers to trade and investment and institutionalized discrimination, and will seriously affect normal China–EU economic and trade cooperation and the stability of global production and supply chains.
