Just realized I needed to update my banking details for SRD and honestly, the process is way simpler than I thought. Spent like 20 minutes going through the official portal and it's actually pretty straightforward if you know what you're doing.

So here's the thing - if you're getting the SRD grant, updating your banking details is all online now. No need to go to a SASSA office like with the permanent grants. Just head to the official SASSA SRD website, find that banking details section, and punch in your 13-digit ID. They'll send you a secure link via SMS to whatever number you have registered. Click the link, enter your new bank account info, and boom - done. Takes a few days to a week for the bank to verify everything, but at least it's not complicated.

The tricky part is making sure the account is actually in YOUR name though. SASSA won't touch joint accounts or anything weird like that. Also, if you're using the cash send option, your phone number has to be registered in your name (RICA compliant, whatever that means).

If the online thing doesn't work for you, you can always call the helpline or just email them. Some people say the portal can be glitchy, especially when you're trying to update your phone number at the same time. But honestly, just update my banking details for SRD online first, then worry about the phone number separately if needed.

Anyone else had issues with this, or is it just me overthinking it?
