Just caught James Carville dropping some pretty intense commentary about Trump's current state, and honestly, the veteran strategist isn't holding back. At 81, Carville's been around politics long enough to know what he's seeing, and his latest health assessment is pretty blunt: he doesn't think Trump makes it through next year in office. He went on Politics War Room at Politicon saying the deterioration is obvious to anyone actually paying attention. Not neurologist stuff — just basic observation. You can see it happening right in front of you.
What struck me about Carville's take is he's not just talking about the physical or cognitive side of things. He's also pointing out that Trump's grip on people's attention has completely shifted. Foreign leaders, voters, politicians — nobody's as locked in on what he says anymore. The presidency itself has become a different job from what it was a year ago, and Carville thinks that gap only widens by November.
He's pretty convinced this is the inflection point. Like, he's been skeptical before, but Carville says this time feels different. He really believes the situation has turned a corner in a substantial way. Meanwhile, Trump keeps insisting there's nothing wrong — even bragging about acing the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, which is basically a screening test for people already suspected of cognitive issues. The whole dynamic is wild right now.
Carville's health prediction has gotten pretty specific though. He's not hedging anymore. Says it's a bad situation and he's genuinely worried about what's ahead. Whether you buy his analysis or not, the fact that someone with his political track record is making this kind of call is worth paying attention to. The conversation around Trump's fitness for office clearly isn't going away anytime soon.
