Former Chairman of Kweichow Moutai (Shanghai: 600519) and Director of Guizhou Provincial Market Supervision Bureau Ding Xiongjun is under investigation for bribery and money laundering. He is the third former chairman of Kweichow Moutai to be prosecuted after Yuan Renguo and Gao Weidong.

The Supreme People’s Procuratorate disclosed that Ding Xiongjun is suspected of using his official convenience, as well as the convenience created by his authority or position, to seek benefits for others, illegally accepting others’ property, with a particularly large amount; concealing and hiding the source and nature of part of the bribe income, with serious circumstances, and should be prosecuted for bribery and money laundering according to law.

Authorities indicate that, under the jurisdiction designated by the Guizhou Provincial People’s Procuratorate, the Qiandongnan Prefecture People’s Procuratorate has lawfully filed a public prosecution with the Qiandongnan Intermediate People’s Court. The case is under further processing.

Public information shows that Ding Xiongjun served as Chairman of Moutai from August 2021 to April 2024. As of April 2024, he was transferred to serve as Director of Guizhou Provincial Market Supervision Bureau. On January 2 last year, the Guizhou Provincial Discipline Inspection Commission and Supervision Committee announced that Ding Xiongjun was suspected of serious violations of discipline and law, and was under disciplinary review and supervisory investigation by the Guizhou Provincial Discipline Inspection Commission and Supervision Committee.

It is worth noting that Moutai has changed leadership five times in the past eight years, with all three former chairmen involved in major corruption cases, including Yuan Renguo and Gao Weidong, who have been sentenced to life imprisonment.
