Just sorted my SASSA banking details update and honestly it's easier than I thought, but depends which grant you're on. If you're on permanent grants like old age or disability, you gotta go to the office in person - can't do it online unfortunately. Bring your ID, proof of your new bank account (bank statement not older than 3 months works), and they'll fill out the payment method change form for you. Takes up to 21 days to process through the bank, so try submit before the 15th if you want it sorted for next month's payment.

Now if you're on the SRD grant, that's different - the whole thing is online through the official SASSA SRD portal. Just enter your ID number, they send you a secure link via SMS, and you update your banking details there. Way faster. Same rule though - account must be in your name, no third party accounts.

Changing your cellphone number? Also depends. For SRD, use the contact details page on their portal, enter your ID and application ID, put in your new number, they send an OTP to verify. For permanent grants, just call them on 0800 60 10 11 or visit the office. Honestly the phone option is usually quicker if you can get through. Just make sure you use the official SASSA link for everything - there's apparently fake websites trying to scam people's details, so be careful with that.
