So Trump just pulled Nate Morris out of the Kentucky Senate race to make him an ambassador instead. Wild timing considering Elon Musk literally just spent 10 million backing this guy. Like... Musk and Trump are doing that thing again where you're not sure if they're actually aligned or just playing 4D chess with each other.
Morris was basically running against the whole McConnell establishment thing, which tracks with Trump's whole vibe lately. The guy's got money, runs a waste/recycling company, very MAGA by all accounts. But now he's getting moved to some administration role instead of staying in the race. Trump posted on Truth Social saying Morris is 'Oxford educated, tough as nails' and will represent America great as an ambassador.
The funny part? Trump and Elon Musk have this weird relationship where Musk spent big money getting Trump elected, helped build the whole Government Efficiency thing, but then they had some kind of falling out. Now Musk's backing this Senate candidate, and Trump's like 'nah, I'm taking him for my team.' Says he's got a big Senate endorsement coming soon but won't say who yet.
Republicans need to hold the Senate apparently, so this is all part of that calculation. But the Trump and Elon Musk dynamic in all this is genuinely hard to read sometimes.
