Just realized a lot of people are confused about updating their SASSA details, especially with the SRD R370 grant. Let me break down what actually works because I've been through this mess.

So if you're on permanent grants (old age, disability, child grants), you literally have to go to a SASSA office in person. No shortcuts. You need your ID, proof of your new bank account (bank statement not older than 3 months), and they'll give you a form to fill out. Takes up to 21 working days to process, and if you miss the 15th deadline, you're waiting another month. Annoying but that's how it works.

Now the SRD grant is different - that one's all online, which is actually better. You go to the official SASSA SRD portal, enter your ID number, they send you an SMS link, and you update your banking details through that. The key thing? The account has to be in YOUR name only. No joint accounts, no using someone else's bank. I've heard stories of people getting stuck because they tried to use a family member's account.

For changing your phone number on SRD, same deal - use the official portal, enter your ID and application ID, they send an OTP to your new number to verify. Don't fall for those fake websites floating around claiming they can do this stuff. Stick to the official links.

If the online thing doesn't work, just call the helpline at 0800 60 10 11 or visit your local office. Takes longer but it's safer than messing with unofficial sites. The whole update banking details process is straightforward once you know where to go, just don't expect it to happen overnight.
