Just learned that Ben Shelton's been basically designing On shoes since he signed with them in 2023. Like, this guy didn't just get handed the Roger Pro 3—he actually shaped it. They listened to what he wanted: lighter, lower to the ground, but still stable enough that he doesn't worry about rolling his ankle mid-slide. Pretty cool that a tennis player gets that kind of input.

So the Pro 3 just dropped and it's apparently 10 grams lighter than the Pro 2 while being way more durable. They added this Helion foam to the midsole that's usually in their running shoes, which is the first time it's hit a tennis shoe. Combined with a carbon fiber plate, it's supposed to give crazy energy return and responsiveness. The outsole pattern changed too—new diamond design instead of herringbone for better sliding control.

What's interesting is how Shelton talks about watching the shoe evolve. He mentioned the heel comes up a bit higher over the ankle bone because of his feedback during testing. Like, he literally influenced specific design details. The colorways drop in linen/lime and white/pink for hard courts, plus black/pink and thistle/pink for clay.

Ben Shelton On shoes might actually be worth checking out if you're serious about court performance. Pretty rare to see an athlete this involved in the actual development process.
