Just realized a lot of people don't know how to properly change their SASSA details without getting stuck. If you're on a permanent grant like old age or disability, you literally have to show up in person at a SASSA office—no shortcuts online. Bring your ID, proof of your new bank account (statement or bank letter, nothing older than 3 months), and they'll handle the Payment Method Change Form. The bank verification takes up to 21 working days, so if you want it processed for next month's payment, submit before the 15th.

Now if you're on the SRD R370 grant, it's way different. Everything's online through their official portal, which is actually pretty secure. You just enter your ID number, they send you a link via SMS, and you update your banking info there. Takes a few days to weeks for the bank to verify. But here's the thing—if you need to change your cellphone number too, use their contact details page, not some random website claiming to do it. They'll send you an OTP to confirm. Or honestly, just call the SASSA helpline at 0800 60 10 if you get stuck. Lots of people mess this up and end up missing payments, so don't sleep on getting your details right.
