ChatGPT Images 2.0 Joins Consumer Deepfake Tools Used in Crypto Fraud

Chainalysis said AI-assisted crypto scams now net about $3.2 million on average, as consumer deepfake tools including ChatGPT Images 2.0 spread impersonation risks. Chainalysis said that haul is about 4.5 times larger than a conventional scheme. The article cited a $2 million August 2025 theft tied to attackers impersonating the founder of Plasma and reports of deepfake Zoom calls linked to North Korean operatives.
