ME News message: On May 10 (UTC+8), Tesla achieved a breakthrough in safety systems by analyzing real fleet collision data and combining its vision system with sensors. Traditional collision sensors need time to confirm, and lowering thresholds may cause false triggers. Meanwhile, the vision system can “see” an impending collision in advance; working together with the sensors, it enables the restraint controller to activate airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners earlier and more accurately. By replaying collisions in simulation and measuring the forces acting on human models, the team found that early deployment can optimize the timing of protection. This improvement significantly lowers the overall predicted injury severity, and it is delivered through OTA updates, representing an unprecedented safety enhancement. (Source: AiHot)
