Bailey Warns US Clash Over Stablecoin Rules Could Raise UK Run Risk

Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey warned that a U.S.-led stablecoin regime could clash with international standards and raise run risk for the U.K. in a crisis. Bailey said some dollar stablecoins may not be readily convertible into dollars without routing through a crypto exchange. The warning comes as the U.K. builds its own framework for systemic stablecoins, including a rule that would place at least 40% of reserves at the Bank of England.
