Putin: Received Message from Zelensky Expressing Desire to Meet, Open to Talks in Third Country
On May 10, according to CCTV News, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a press conference on the evening of May 9, local time, to answer related questions. Putin stated that the absence of military equipment during the Red Square parade was not solely for security reasons, but because soldiers should focus on thoroughly defeating the enemy. He emphasized that these decisions were made long before Ukraine issued any threats.
Putin mentioned that prior to U.S. President Trump’s related initiatives, Russia had already proposed an exchange of 500 detained individuals to Ukraine; however, the Ukrainian side has delayed, and Russia has yet to receive any proposal from Ukraine regarding the exchange. Putin also noted that Slovak Prime Minister Fico conveyed a message from Ukrainian President Zelensky expressing a desire to meet. Putin stated that Russia does not oppose a meeting, and if there is willingness, they can come to Moscow; Russia is also open to talks in a third country, with the aim of ultimately signing an agreement.
