Been diving into the Elon Musk rabbit hole again, and there's actually a lot more to this guy than just the memes and Twitter drama.
So first off, people are always curious about how tall Elon Musk actually is. The man stands at 6'2" (187 cm), which is pretty tall for a tech CEO. You see him at events and yeah, he's got that commanding presence—definitely taller than your average billionaire in the room.
But here's what's wild: his whole journey from South Africa to becoming the world's richest person. Born in Pretoria back in 1971, his family was actually loaded—his dad was an engineer and property developer, his mom was a model and dietitian. The kid taught himself to code at 10 and literally sold a video game for $500. By the time he hit his 20s, he'd already moved to Canada to dodge military service and ended up at Queen's University.
The business empire is insane. Zip2 sold to Compaq for $307 million, then PayPal got acquired by eBay for $1.5 billion and he walked away with $180 million. That was his seed capital for everything else. SpaceX, Tesla, Neuralink, The Boring Company, xAI—the man's literally trying to solve transportation, energy, space travel, and AI all at the same time.
What gets me is how unconventional his personal life is. He's got like 12 kids across multiple relationships—Justine, Talulah Riley, Grimes, Shivon Zilis. Some of his children have made headlines for their own reasons (Vivian's transition, the unique names like X Æ A-12). He's openly talked about wanting large families and worrying about population decline. Pretty different from your typical billionaire narrative.
Money-wise, his net worth is floating around $850 billion depending on Tesla and SpaceX valuations. On a good day, he's making hundreds of millions per day just from stock appreciation. Meanwhile, he's living in a $50k prefab house in Texas near SpaceX's headquarters because he said he wanted to own no house. That's peak Elon energy.
The political angle is also fascinating—he dumped like $260+ million into Trump's 2024 campaign and got involved with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Now he's a confidant in Washington circles, which is wild for a South African-born entrepreneur.
And the Sam Altman feud with OpenAI is basically the tech world's biggest drama. They co-founded it together, disagreed on the direction, and now Musk's competing with xAI while Altman's running ChatGPT. Public lawsuits, Twitter beef, the whole nine yards.
The guy's basically playing 4D chess across multiple industries. Whether you think he's a genius or a chaos agent, you can't deny he's reshaped how we think about electric vehicles, space exploration, and AI. His Elon Musk height might be 6'2", but his influence in tech and business is practically immeasurable at this point.
