Just realized a lot of people don't know how to properly update their SASSA grant details. If you're on a permanent grant (old age, disability, child support), you actually can't do it online - you have to physically go to your nearest SASSA office and fill out the Payment Method Change Form. Bring your valid ID, proof of your new bank account (bank statement not older than 3 months), and they'll process it. Takes up to 21 working days to verify, so submit before the 15th of the month if you want it to take effect next cycle.



If you're on the SRD R370 grant though, it's way easier - everything's online through their portal. Just enter your ID number, they send you an SMS link, and you update your banking details there. Same thing applies: account must be in your name only, no joint accounts.

Also don't forget to update your cellphone number if it changes. For permanent grants, call the helpline at 0800 60 10 11 or visit an office. For SRD, use their contact portal and they'll send you an OTP to verify. Seriously, keep this stuff current or you might miss your payment. And watch out for fake SASSA websites trying to scam you - always use the official links.
