Have you ever heard of that self-proclaimed "future person" from Japan named Rei Kubun, who claims to come from 2058? This individual has become extremely popular online because many of her past predictions seem to have been quite accurate—such as Japan winning 27 gold medals at the Tokyo Olympics, the Nikkei index plummeting in March 2020, and Shinzo Abe stepping down in September. All of these events later happened. So, many people started to regard her as a true prophet, believing she might really hold some secret of time and space.

Rei Kubun says she was born in 1934, studied architecture at the University of Tokyo, and arrived in the present through a time-space teleportation device in December 2019. Although there’s no scientific evidence for time travel yet, her series of predictions on social media have definitely made her a topic of discussion. Recently, she also shared her views on cryptocurrencies, which is what really draws investors’ attention.

According to Rei Kubun’s prophecy, at the end of 2019, she used her father’s account to buy about 1,400 Ethereum coins in large quantities, then buried them in her parents’ yard, planning to dig them up in 2058. She chose Ethereum instead of Bitcoin, not because she’s bearish on Bitcoin, but because she believes the Ethereum ecosystem will offer more application opportunities and greater growth potential. However, this future person also mentioned that, based on her understanding of 2058, although Bitcoin will rise to an extremely exaggerated 780 million yen (about $4.94 million), at that time "you can only sell, not buy"—possibly due to limited access to new Bitcoin or because Bitcoin’s own characteristics will no longer be suitable for trading. Her followers, upon hearing this prophecy, are thrilled, thinking it means there’s still profit to be made by buying Bitcoin now.

But are these predictions really that accurate? Looking back at her previous "success stories," from Olympic gold medals to pandemic warnings and political changes, she has indeed hit some marks. However, some researchers point out that these might just be inferences based on the economic trends and political rumors at the time, with some luck involved or post-hoc adjustments. More importantly, her statements often contain vague language, sometimes using ambiguous hints to attract attention. Most of the scientific community and media remain skeptical about time travel.

Regardless of whether Rei Kubun’s predictions are true or false, she has certainly sparked discussions among investors about cryptocurrencies. The long-term potential of Bitcoin and Ethereum has become a focal point again. However, investment experts advise that if you want to follow her so-called "future value in the 2030s," you should first assess your own risk tolerance. On the other hand, some worry that statements like "Bitcoin only has to be sold" could trigger market speculation or panic selling. Recently, Bitcoin and Ethereum have experienced significant volatility due to factors like the US elections and ETF approvals. Investors should stay calm amid the hype and not blindly chase high prices.

Ultimately, Rei Kubun’s identity as a "future person" and her predictions still carry an aura of mystery. For the crypto market, it might just be an interesting media hype; for her followers, it’s like a prophet’s guidance. But whether you believe in future messages or not, investing still ultimately depends on your own judgment and risk management. As some netizens say: maybe there really are time travelers, or perhaps this is just a grand show. The future developments in the market will tell.
