🌵 THE DRY SEASON THAT TESTS US
That year's dry season was different. The scorching sun mercilessly beat down. The leaves yellowed and fell. The river that used to flow clear and strong now shrank into a muddy puddle. The fields began to crack. Farmers sat on the edge of their fields with faces full of despair.
"How is this, Grandpa?" asked a young farmer.
Grandpa Joyo just remained silent. He looked at Si Fulan's coin in his palm, then gazed at the cloudless blue sky. "We will get through this," he said softly. "But not by sitting still."
💢 WHEN FEAR TURNS INTO ANGER
Tensions rose. The decreasing water made the farmers suspicious of each other. Some stole water at night. Some blocked their neighbor's irrigation channels. Friendships built over years cracked overnight.
"Si Fulan is no longer working!" shouted a farmer with a red face.
"We must leave that coin!" responded another.
"It's better if we go back to the old ways!"
The crowd started to argue. Angry voices responded to each other. A young man even raised a hoe toward his neighbor.
Grandpa Joyo remained silent. He just sat under the banyan tree, staring at the coin in his hand with a sharp gaze. Then he stood up. Slowly. Calmly.
"Do you think this coin is what makes our village prosperous?"
The atmosphere immediately fell silent.
"Do you think Si Fulan is a magic coin that will save you without effort?"
Grandpa Joyo walked into the crowd. His eyes looked at each of his villagers.
"Si Fulan never promised an easy life. It only reminds us that when storms come, we can choose to fall apart or choose to unite."
💎 A NIGHT FILLED WITH MEANING
That night, Grandpa Joyo called all the villagers to the village square. Under the pale moonlight, he took Si Fulan's coin from his pocket and planted it in the open ground.
"I'm old. I won't live forever. But this coin will stay here, as a reminder that we used to unite, and we can do it again."
A villager asked, "What should we do, Grandpa?"
Grandpa Joyo smiled. "You don't need to do anything big. Just do this:"
🔥 P — TRUST
"Trust each other. Because this village will never prosper if you suspect one another."
🔥 O — OBJECTIVE
"Look at problems with a clear head. Don't let anger take over. Water issues are a shared problem, not an enemy in front of you."
🔥 J — HONESTY
"Say what really happened. Don't hide mistakes. Because one lie can destroy the trust built over years."
🔥 U — WHOLE
"Stay consistent in goodness. Don't change just because times are tough."
🔥 R — RELIABLE
"Be someone dependable. If you can be relied on, you will never be abandoned."
💧 A MOVING EVENT
After Grandpa Joyo finished speaking, the village children started walking to the center of the field. They held hands. They formed a circle around Si Fulan's coin. And they began singing — a simple song taught by Grandpa Joyo earlier:
"We are small. But we are many. We are weak alone. But together, we are strong."
Parents started crying. They remembered the past when they also sang like that. Slowly, they moved closer. Hands that were clenched began to open.
That night, they made a pact: water would be shared fairly. The irrigation channels would be repaired together. No more stealing.
🌾 THE COMING RAIN SEASON
Three days later, rain fell. Not a destructive downpour, but a gentle drizzle that calmed. Cracked ground began to wet. The leaves turned green again.
The river flowed again. Farmers who had quarreled helped each other replant their rice seedlings.
Grandpa Joyo sat under the banyan tree, watching Si Fulan's coin still planted in the village square. A little boy approached him.
"Grandpa, did Si Fulan make the rain fall?"
Grandpa Joyo chuckled softly. "No, child. The rain falls because of nature. But the real miracle isn't the rain. It's when people who used to fight can hug each other."
A MESSAGE from Fulan
"Storms will come. Problems will arise. But if we hold fast to POJUR — Trust, Objective, Honesty, Whole, Reliable — we will always find a way out."
"Si Fulan isn't a magic coin. It’s just a reminder that the greatest miracle is* our trust, honesty, and cooperation.*"*
"The city of Si Fulan isn't perfect. But it's a city of people who* choose to unite in #fulan times of hardship.*"
