U.S. Stock Watch Today | #苹果 Prices Go Up, and AI Bills Get Added to the Shopping Cart
When I first saw Apple’s new pricing list, my first reaction was: this price hike is really harsh. MacBook Pro is up by 3,000 yuan, iPad Pro is up by 1,800 yuan, and MacBook Air is also up by 1,500 yuan—almost the entire Mac and iPad product line has been adjusted upward at the same time.
The underlying reason is that AI data centers are gobbling up a large amount of HBM, DRAM, and NAND capacity. Chipmakers are more willing to sell inventory to server customers with higher profit margins and larger order sizes, while consumer electronics can only get more expensive memory and storage.
It’s also not hard to understand why the price increases hit Mac and iPad first: their memory and SSD usage is higher, so it’s easier for prices to be adjusted upward. For now, iPhone hasn’t moved; it’s more about protecting sales volume and market share, and the pressure in the supply chain hasn’t disappeared.
According to reports, Apple is also trying to procure DRAM from ChangXin Memory. Even Apple has to find new suppliers to squeeze prices, which shows that memory manufacturers’ bargaining power has indeed strengthened in this round, as business costs and geopolitical constraints collide.
For investors, Micron and SNDK are still capturing the benefits of the price increases, while Apple has to make choices among costs, gross margin, and sales volume.
My view is that conditions in the upstream sector are still favorable. Don’t rush to “bottom fish” Apple just yet. Next, focus on memory prices and product sales rather than a single price-hike list.
