Through Pi Ventures’ first investment in OpenMind—a company building an “Android-like system” for robots—Pi is converting the idle computing power of over 420,000 nodes worldwide into a distributed computing resource concept proof for AI training and machine collaboration has been completed:

Pi nodes have successfully run AI image recognition tasks for OpenMind, proving that the computing power behind smartphones can support the “brain” of the machine economy. This is not just talk on paper; it is a technological symbiosis that is actually taking place—the payment rail of the machine economy. Pi’s blockchain precision reaches 7 decimal places, enough for AI agents or robots to autonomously complete millions of autonomous settlements per second at extremely low cost.

Soroban smart contracts enable Pi to evolve from a “passive coin” into a “smart funds” machine. Based on preset conditions, it can automatically make payments, escrow transactions, and distribute profits without requiring human approval one by one. This precisely matches the future described in *The Machine Economy*: “no need for traditional banks to process every transaction.”

This closed-loop ecosystem is taking shape.

Hardware manufacturers provide the “body,” OpenMind provides the “operating system,” and Pi Network provides a decentralized compute layer and an economic incentives layer. Robot service providers pay Pi nodes compute fees, and node operators earn Pi rewards—machines “earn” and “spend” in their own way, while people share the dividends of this new economy by holding and contributing compute power.
