Golden Finance reported that on May 23, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Bagheri said on the 22nd local time that the visit by Pakistan’s Army Chief of Staff Munir to Iran is a continuation of the current diplomatic process. This does not mean that the situation has entered a decisive stage, nor can it be said that Iran and the United States are close to reaching an agreement. Bagheri said that the differences between the two sides “are profound and wide-ranging,” and it is impossible to achieve a final result through only a few rounds of back-and-forth facilitation or negotiations over the course of a few weeks. Bagheri emphasized that the focus of the current talks is to push for an end to the war, and at this stage, issues related to nuclear matters will not be discussed. He said that issues such as “ending all wars on all fronts, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, and ending the U.S. maritime ‘raiding activities’” still remain the core topics for discussion in the negotiations.
