Golden Financial reports that on May 23, “Federal Reserve mouthpiece” Nick Timiraos posted that Kevin Wosh had several key moments during the swearing-in ceremony at the White House:

· Trump asked Wosh to be “completely independent.” Trump said, “(Hope he) doesn’t look at me, nor look at anyone else.”

· Just two minutes later, Trump again raised some “suggestions,” explaining the economic direction he wanted to see: “Strong economic growth does not need to be cooled down,” “Economic growth does not necessarily mean inflation,” and “Hope the economy prospers and reaches unprecedented levels because there are indeed some debts that need to be addressed.”

· Trump hinted that the Federal Reserve’s decision-making leadership would “converge.” He said that other Federal Reserve policymakers “will make their own decisions, but they will take into account Kevin’s views throughout,” even those “whose positions differ slightly.”

· Wosh mentioned Greenspan rather than Bernanke. Wosh looked back on history, recalling Greenspan’s swearing-in at the White House in 1987, and promised to “carry out his work with abundant energy and a strong sense of mission, just like Chairman Greenspan.” He did not mention that he had worked with the then-chairman Bernanke for five years prior to serving as a member.
