Baidu wins a bid worth 837 million yuan for the China Unicom Jinan AI project, purchasing 740 servers

Gate News: On March 6, China Unicom announced the winning bid for the 2026 Shandong Jinan Large Model Innovation Factory Infrastructure Service Project. Baidu won the bid with a total amount of 837 million yuan, making it the largest AI large model project bid since the beginning of 2026. The project involves purchasing a total of 740 AI servers, including 204 training servers (equipped with 400G+100G network interfaces), 476 inference servers (equipped with 100G network interfaces), and 60 training + inference servers (equipped with 100G+25G network interfaces). The equipment will be deployed at the Unicom data center in Licheng District, Jinan, with a delivery period of 16 working days after contract signing. The processors used in the bid servers have parameters of 64 cores, 2.7GHz clock speed, and 400W power consumption. Baidu-controlled AI chip company Kunlun Chip previously won a billion-level procurement order from China Mobile, but it has not been disclosed whether the processors in this bid are Kunlun Chip products, and Baidu has not commented.
