Gold Financial reports that on the 24th, U.S. President Trump told the media at the White House that the United States and Iran are in negotiations, and Iran has “agreed to permanently give up nuclear weapons.” The day before, Trump stated that the U.S. and Iran had engaged in dialogue. However, this claim was immediately denied by Iran. Trump said that the U.S. and Iran are “in negotiations,” with Secretary of State Pompeo and Vice President Pence participating alongside his son-in-law Kushner and Presidential envoy Witkoff. He stated that the primary condition for the U.S. is that Iran “must never possess nuclear weapons,” and “they have clearly expressed their agreement to permanently abandon nuclear weapons.” Trump also said, “We are dealing with the right people,” and “I believe they are trustworthy.” According to multiple U.S. media outlets, Trump on the 24th claimed that the war against Iran is “already won,” and that Iran is ready to “reach an agreement.” Trump delivered a speech in the Oval Office of the White House, declaring that “Iran has been weakened, its regime overthrown,” that the Iranian military has been “completely destroyed,” and that “the war has been won.” Trump also stated that Iran is prepared to “reach an agreement.” He said, “They (Iran) did something incredible yesterday. They gave us a gift, a priceless gift.” Trump did not specify what this “gift” was but said it was “related to oil and natural gas.” On the 23rd, Trump told the media that the U.S. had engaged in dialogue with Iran and reached key points of an agreement. However, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani posted on social media denying any negotiations with the U.S. and said that spreading “fake news” aims to manipulate financial and oil markets to help the U.S. and Israel escape their deep quagmire.
