Just came across something wild about BlackRock's Larry Fink. His net worth hit $1.1 billion according to Forbes data from last year. That's the kind of number that makes you do a double-take, right?
But here's what's actually insane - his annual compensation package. We're talking $32.7 million just in 2022 alone. Base salary is only $1.5M, but then you've got a $7.25M bonus and like $23M in stock awards. The AFL-CIO calculated that Larry Fink's pay is literally 212 times what the median BlackRock employee makes. That ratio is honestly hard to wrap your head around.
The real wealth though comes from his shareholdings. Last SEC filing showed he owns over 414k BlackRock shares. At the prices we saw back then, just that position alone was worth $315 million. That's before you factor in everything else. No wonder his net worth sits at $1.1 billion when you combine his compensation, equity stake, and other assets.
Makes you think about CEO pay structures and how wealth compounds when you're at the top of a company like BlackRock. Pretty wild gap between that and what regular employees get paid.
