AS and Iran Reportedly Discuss 45-Day Ceasefire

The United States and Iran, along with regional mediators, are discussing the possibility of a 45-day ceasefire amid escalating conflict.
According to Axios, the talks involve mediators from countries such as Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey, aiming to prevent broader escalation of the conflict.
Negotiations focus on initial steps to build trust, including the potential reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and restrictions on certain activities considered sensitive by both sides.
This effort is seen as a last chance to avoid a major attack on Iran's civilian infrastructure, which could trigger retaliation against energy and water facilities in Gulf countries.
However, the chances of reaching an agreement soon are still limited. Negotiations are taking place under high pressure, with a deadline set by President Donald Trump to achieve results in a short time.
Earlier, some short-term ceasefire proposals were also reported to have failed, highlighting the complexity of negotiations between the two countries.
If successful, this 45-day ceasefire could serve as a first step toward a more permanent resolution of the conflict. However, without an agreement, the risk of escalation and its impact on the global energy markets are expected to increase.
