Odaily Star Daily, with explosive growth in demand for AI computing power and accelerated deployment of global low-Earth-orbit satellite constellations, space has become a new arena for governments worldwide to invest in and lay out computing power. Guo Zebang, Director of the Information Technology Industry Bureau of Beijing Economic-Technological Development Zone, said: “We have initiated the establishment of the Beijing Space Computing Power Innovation Center. We hope to bring together efforts from industry, academia, and research institutes, verify the development of complete satellites, and break through key technical areas such as radiation-hardened chips and on-board thermal management. Every aspect must be tackled and overcome one by one. Sending computing power into space is a long-term mission aimed at the stars and the sea. We believe that in the future, as industry, academia, and research institutes work together, a computing power network that coordinates between land and space will be built more quickly.” (CCTV Finance)
