$334 million worth of Bitcoin "disappears"? Exchange cold wallet private key missing incident exposed ⚠️

Cryptocurrency market experiences another bizarre event.

European exchange Zonda states that one of its cold wallets is currently inaccessible, holding 4,503 Bitcoins worth approximately $334 million.

📊 Key details of the incident:

The cold wallet's private key has never been officially transferred
It was supposed to be handed over by the exchange founder Sylwester Suszek
But Sylwester Suszek has been missing since 2022

Current CEO Przemysław Kral emphasized in a video statement:

The company has not engaged in misappropriation of customer funds
Recent media reports have caused market panic, leading to an abnormal surge in withdrawals

The exchange also stated that it will take legal action against some false reports and promised to continue fulfilling its responsibilities and obligations toward user assets.

It is worth noting that this exchange was formerly called BitBay and officially rebranded as Zonda in 2021.

💡 Expert analysis:

Cold wallets are the safest asset storage method in the crypto industry, but if the private key management mechanism encounters issues, the risks are equally significant.

This incident once again reminds the market:

Technical security does not equal management security.

🌱 Market insights:

In the crypto world,
The true control of assets is not the platform, but the private key itself.

Remember an old saying:
“Not your key, not your coin.” 🔑🚀
