SKALE has launched the Ethereum Layer 3 network on Layer 2 Base to support AI applications and agent tasks. The new network, named SKALE on Base, combines SKALE's scaling infrastructure with liquidity, users, and the onramp of Base.
The platform targets agents using the x402 payment protocol incubated by Coinbase, allowing operation across multiple EVM blockchains without needing to relearn the gas model or user interface. The multi-chain SKALE Expand system enables core smart contracts to run on other EVM chains while maintaining gasless transactions, instant completion, and privacy.
SKALE on Base also introduced a credit system for computing resources, allowing users to prepay with USDC or SKL instead of managing gas. Earlier, in early 2025, SKALE launched the BITE Protocol to combat harmful MEV. The deployment of Layer 3 adds functionalities that Layer 2 does not optimize, while also connecting multiple L1 and L2 chains while keeping users and liquidity on the native network.
