Russia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and eight other countries issued a joint statement calling for a political resolution to the Syrian issue and the protection of civilians. According to Russia Today (RT), armed personnel from the ‘Liberation of Syria Alliance’ (HTS) have arrived in the suburbs of Damascus. Meanwhile, a US-backed opposition force has taken control of the ancient city of Palmyra, located northeast of Damascus.
