When it comes to the dilemmas of centralized AI, many people have their feelings—giants like OpenAI and Anthropic monopolize models and data, overshadowing the contributions of creators and developers. Sentient emerged against this backdrop, as an open-source platform focused on building community-owned, open general artificial intelligence infrastructure.

The core innovation of this project is the OML (Open Model License). Simply put, it addresses the most headache-inducing issue in open-source AI—how to monetize. Contributors can genuinely benefit from their models' usage while maintaining the transparency of open source. This mechanism breaks the old pattern of "open source = free of charge."

Sentient's GRID platform provides AI developers a place to showcase their talents, with the ROMA model performing impressively in complex multi-source reasoning. Technologically, they designed the SERA system—ensuring efficient operation of AI agents under privacy protection through deterministic routing, with further reinforcement from Miden integration to enhance privacy safeguards.

There are also highlights in the ecosystem. Closely integrated with the Polygon ecosystem, utilizing the Open Money Stack framework, and even testing token transfers on-chain. Recently, they partnered with Talus Labs and UnifAI Network to expand agent distribution and reasoning capabilities.

It's not just about technology; community operation is also unique. They are conducting campus tours in East Asia (Beijing, Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai), promoting the Sparks Ambassador Program—selecting 10 each month, emphasizing high-quality contributions over airdrop benefits, and awarding badges, merchandise, and VIP treatment. This gradual approach to community building demonstrates a sincere attitude toward decentralized governance.

Open-source AI monetization? Sounds good, but can it really break through?

I need to keep a close eye on this OML logic. Can contributors really profit from monetizing the model? Or is it just another iteration of the air coin scam... I’ll only consider acting after the on-chain smart contract audit results.

Another new project claiming to "break the monopoly"? OML monetization sounds pretty good, but I just want to ask—can you really make money from open-source models, or is this just another game of harvesting the naive?
