A 78-year-old South Korean encryption investor donated 1 Bitcoin to Seoul National University Hospital.
On November 13, according to South Korean media reports, 78-year-old South Korean individual cryptocurrency investor Mr. Kim Gyu-sik donated 1 Bitcoin to the Seoul National University Hospital Development Fund, valued at approximately 157 million Korean Won. During the donation ceremony, Mr. Kim stated, “I believe Bitcoin is a new type of donation tool that aligns with the trends of the times. I hope this donation can serve as an opportunity to spread a new culture of sharing, and I hope to continue this form of sharing in the future.” Mr. Kim is an investor with a strong interest in future technology investment areas such as digital assets, artificial intelligence, and Quantum Computers. In August this year, he also donated 1 Bitcoin each to the Korean Red Cross and the Seoul City Social Welfare Joint Fundraising Committee. His donation to the Red Cross is the first case of a high-value donation of digital assets by an individual since the Financial Services Commission of Korea allowed non-profit organizations to conduct virtual asset donation transactions for cashing purposes. The Seoul National University Hospital will cash out the donated amount according to the virtual asset cashing guidelines for the hospital development fund.
