The CFTC, one of the most important institutions in the United States, made a positive decision regarding cryptocurrencies.
Polymarket, one of the leading platforms in the cryptocurrency prediction markets space, has received approval from the CFTC for the "Amended Order of Designation" by overcoming a critical threshold to be able to resume operations in the U.S.
The decision made yesterday and announced today paves the way for the platform to operate as a fully regulated market in the US.

With the new regulation, Polymarket will be able to provide mediated access to its US users. This model will allow investors to access the platform through futures commission merchants and traditional brokerage firms. Thus, entry into prediction markets will acquire a more institutional structure, similar to that of traditional financial products.
The authorization granted by the CFTC places Polymarket within the same framework as exchanges subject to federal oversight. The platform will now be subject to advanced audit and monitoring standards, compliant market surveillance, established clearing procedures, and Part 16 reporting obligations. This means that Polymarket will operate at a level of transparency and security similar to traditional markets.
Shayne Coplan, the founder and CEO of Polymarket, said in the press release announcing the decision, "People trust Polymarket because we provide clarity where there is uncertainty," and added: "This decision shows that prediction markets are increasingly being recognized as a mature financial product."
