A Decade of Conviction and a Night of Insomnia: The Asset Dilemma of Bitcoin Holders

In nearly ten years of being in the circle, I have never lost sleep over price fluctuations—until this past month.

BTC dropped from its all-time high of $126,000 to $88,000, and the rapid decline instantly woke me up. To return to the high, it needs nearly a 50% increase. More painfully, my personal assets also retreated from their all-time highs during the same period, just one step away from crossing the class threshold, but I missed it due to greed.

A little regret, a lifetime of choices

What keeps me tossing and turning is not the loss itself, but the hypothetical “what if I had sold at that time.” On October 6, when Bitcoin hit a new high, I also reached a peak of my personal assets. At that moment, the idea of liquidating crossed my mind, but in the end, I didn’t press the button.

Later, I asked myself: even if I sold and crossed the class threshold, would I really fully liquidate? The answer is no.

So when would I sell? Maybe at $300,000, maybe at $1,000,000, or maybe never. Because I gradually realize that holding is not for cashing out, but for watching that number keep growing.

From 2016 to now, I have been persistent

Since the public purchase in 2022, I have not actively bought Bitcoin again, nor have I sold any digital assets. From 2016 until now, I have never cut my holdings, and after 22 years, I have never shorted BTC. Some might say this is stubborn, or maybe foolish, but when your conviction is strong enough, short-term fluctuations really can’t shake you.

No matter how many bull markets I missed, my faith itself is the best answer.

Perhaps not many are as persistent as I am, but it is precisely because of this that every insomnia reminds me— the value of digital assets is never in the price fluctuations, but in whether you truly believe they can change something.
