Bitcoin's New Year Eve Price Journey Across 12 Years
Looking back at Bitcoin's crossing-year valuations reveals a fascinating volatility pattern:
The early years saw modest levels—$755 (2013) surged to $14,155 (2017) during the first bull run, then crashed to $3,740 (2018) at the cycle bottom. Recovery followed gradually: $7,195 (2019), $29,000 (2020), peaking at $49,305 (2021).
The 2022 drawdown brought it to $16,595, but 2023-2024 showcased recovery strength with $42,560 and $95,650 respectively.
As of New Year's Eve 2025, Bitcoin stands at $87,650—still near all-time highs but showing some pullback from the $95,650 peak.
This 12-year arc demonstrates the crypto market's characteristic boom-bust cycles, multi-year recovery patterns, and the resilience of Bitcoin as a store of value across different economic regimes.

Looking at this data backtest, in 2018 it dropped from $14,155 to $3,740, a decline of 74%, and then it managed to recover to $95,650... Basically, it's betting on surviving until the next bull market, haha. Currently at the $87,650 level, the technicals show some pressure, but on-chain data indicates that whales are still accumulating. Are we small retail investors about to be harvested again?

Bro, the 87650 position is really a bit awkward. It only took a few months to go from 95650 and then pull back this much.

After 12 years, you're still talking about resisting drops. Why not talk about those who bought the dip at 20,000 and are still holding?

ngl the opportunity cost of not holding through 2018's capitulation is genuinely devastating... like the basis points lost compounding over cycles, just visceral. anyway 87k feels like value extraction season just started, thesis validation incoming imo
