Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin pointed out three major structural challenges faced by decentralized stablecoins and believes that these issues have not yet been resolved in the field. He questioned the long-term viability of current designs, highlighting their over-reliance on the US dollar as a benchmark, security vulnerabilities in price oracles, and competitive pressure from staking yields. Buterin emphasized that these are not recommendations, but rather an explanation of limited solutions, and warned that such stablecoins require dynamic rebalancing mechanisms to survive under severe market pressures.
