Recently, tech giants have launched an open-source business protocol standard aimed at retailers, intending to unify the access solutions for e-commerce intelligent agents. This protocol covers the entire shopping chain from product discovery, ordering, to after-sales service. Its core selling point is to allow retailers to avoid reinventing the wheel—simply connect and use, saving the trouble of integrating with various systems.

The participants in its development are major players: Shopify, Etsy, Wayfair, Target, and other platforms are involved. According to the plan, this standard will soon support a new direct checkout feature, allowing users to complete purchases directly within AI assistants or related applications. Currently, it supports wallet payments on the platform, but the official also mentioned that third-party payment services like PayPal are in the integration plan.

Interestingly, this protocol is designed to be compatible with existing other payment standards, meaning that parties within the ecosystem don't have to worry about being locked into a single system. In today's world where AI shopping and mobile payments are becoming more common, a unified business standard could indeed change the access logic of retail.
