## Pump.fun Developer Sentenced to Six Years in Prison: From "Robin Hood crypto" to Burning Declaration

Last Thursday, the Crown Wood Green Court in London delivered a verdict against Jarett Dunn—a Canadian citizen and former senior developer at Pump.fun. Dunn faces two concurrent six-year prison sentences for fraud and illegal asset transfer. This ruling marks the culmination of a complex case that has lasted over a year since the incident occurred.

### Incident and Legal Proceedings

Over a year ago, Dunn withdrew approximately $2 million worth of Solana (SOL) from the Pump.fun platform where he was employed. Notably, he did not keep all the funds; instead, he distributed them to thousands of random wallets across the network. This action quickly made Dunn a controversial figure—some called him the "Robin Hood crypto" for his deeds.

However, the judge did not accept this nickname. Dunn attempted to justify himself by describing the attack as an act of whistleblowing, claiming Pump.fun was a malicious platform. He even publicly posted on X (formerly Twitter) just minutes after the incident, writing: "Everyone stay calm, this is a robbery... I am about to change the course of history and rot in prison."

Prosecutors completely dismissed this argument, viewing it as a "stunt after being caught." According to Mark Kelly, a friend of Dunn present in court, Dunn’s public confessions on social media ultimately facilitated the prosecution.

### Arrest and Trial Process

Four days after the incident, Dunn was arrested at a hotel in London near WeWork where Pump.fun was operating. At that time, he was deemed mentally unfit for interview and was hospitalized for two weeks to improve his condition after months of not taking medication.

In August 2024, Dunn pleaded guilty. However, just two months later, he attempted to withdraw his plea, leading the initial legal team to withdraw from the case. Dunn spent months seeking a new lawyer while still under police surveillance. In July 2025, he was imprisoned for violating bail conditions, and he pleaded guilty for the third time in August.

### Background of Pump.fun Platform

Pump.fun is a platform that allows anyone to create crypto tokens within seconds by filling out a simple form. When Dunn worked there for six weeks before the incident, the platform was still in its early development stage but had already generated $43.9 million in accumulated revenue.

Since then, Pump.fun has grown into one of the most successful crypto projects, with revenue soaring to $927.2 million to date—a significant increase compared to when Dunn was involved.

### Future and Outlook

Currently, Dunn remains detained at HMP Pentonville in London, communicating with followers through an intern managing his X account. He has expressed hope for immediate deportation to Canada, but this has not yet happened. The judge’s ruling appears to have fully considered the entire case context, including Dunn’s public confessions and his statements on X Spaces platform, where he said he wanted to "kill" Pump.fun "because that’s what you do."
