Breaking News TechFlow, January 13 — According to Nikkei Asia, Japanese trading company Mitsui & Co. plans to launch Japan’s first digital securities for airplanes and ships through its subsidiary Mitsui Digital Asset Management as early as April of the 2026 fiscal year, providing new investment options for retail investors.
These digital securities will utilize blockchain technology to divide large assets into smaller shares. Japanese investors can purchase starting from approximately 100,000 yen (about $630 USD) and receive corresponding rental income or other returns.
Mitsui Digital Asset Management has currently launched 19 types of digital real estate securities products, the most among similar products in Japan. It plans to increase digital securities sales to about 100 billion yen by the 2030 fiscal year, four times the amount in 2025.
The Japanese digital securities market is growing rapidly, with issuance reaching 152.9 billion yen in 2025, more than doubling from 2024 and increasing over seven times compared to three years ago.
