CoinVoice has learned that, according to Cointelegraph, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Paul Atkins did not rule out the possibility of the United States seizing Venezuelan-held Bitcoin when asked whether the U.S. would confiscate such assets. Previously, there were reports that Venezuela held up to $60 billion worth of Bitcoin (about 600,000 coins), but several analysts stated that they could not verify this data. Atkins responded that whether the U.S. would seize these Bitcoins "remains to be seen," and added that he personally was not involved in any related decisions. Earlier, the U.S. military, under orders from President Trump, arrested Venezuelan President Maduro and transferred him to New York, where he faced criminal charges.
