The USD/KRW exchange rate has been quite interesting over the past two weeks. It has depreciated for nine consecutive trading days, falling to around 1473 KRW per 1 USD, the longest streak of decline since the 2008 financial crisis. It sounds a bit alarming.

The main reason is actually not complicated—domestic investors in South Korea are withdrawing their investments abroad. One after another, they are moving their money into overseas assets, causing sustained capital outflow pressure. As a result, the sell-off of the Korean won naturally increases.

Since the beginning of the year, the KRW has depreciated by over 2%. For an economy that relies heavily on exports, this kind of depreciation has both advantages and disadvantages. The upside is that export prices become more competitive; the downside is that import costs rise, which could lead to inflationary pressures. For market participants, such macro liquidity changes are worth paying close attention to.

The recent decline of the Korean won is a very obvious signal that investors are rushing out. Nine consecutive days... it's indeed a bit intense. Export benefits but inflation has also arrived, this is the dual nature of depreciation. Once capital outflows start, they can't be stopped. Keep a close eye on liquidity changes.

The recent depreciation of the Korean Won, to put it simply, is still investors fleeing. Who can stop that?

The Korean won has been dropping quite sharply this time, and capital outflows are really accelerating. A 9-day consecutive decline is the longest since 2008, which clearly indicates a problem.

Is the Korean Won depreciating this much? Is capital outflow really that fierce... Exporters are happy, importers are crying.

The Korean Won really can't hold up this time; capital is fleeing. To put it simply, no one is optimistic.

The recent decline of the Korean won is really intense, and it has a strong sense of capital outflow... Exporters are happy, but importers will have trouble.

The Korean Won has been dropping sharply this time. Is the capital outflow pressure this high? It seems like there’s a significant arbitrage opportunity, gotta keep a close eye on it.
