BlackRock has recently made large-scale acquisitions of Bitcoin and Ethereum, including nearly 6,647 Bitcoins purchased in a single day in mid-January 2026. The driving factor is not corporate speculation but the demand from institutional clients. The company currently holds approximately 781,000 Bitcoins, about 4% of the circulating supply, and has transferred a large amount of cryptocurrency to custodial storage, effectively reducing liquidity in the market. Coupled with Ethereum being locked in staking accounts, this increased institutional accumulation further tightens the available supply, suppressing selling pressure. Despite absorbing nearly $1 billion in cryptocurrency in a short period, prices remain stable, with Bitcoin prices well above the lows below $90,000 in Q4 2025.
