The ultimate question in the crypto world: How should we view the security of digital assets?

Suppose the mathematical foundation becomes abnormal—no matter how absurd—the possibility of hash collisions arises, and private keys are no longer secret. Only then will you realize that DeFi and cryptocurrencies are fundamentally built on mathematics and electricity. They are ingeniously designed and operate efficiently, but they also have physical vulnerabilities.

This extreme assumption actually reminds us of one thing: what is the ultimate logic of asset allocation?

The answer is simple—don't digitize all your wealth.

Land, gold, food, water. These are native assets of the physical world; they do not rely on any algorithms or networks. In comparison, digital assets are like a castle built in the cloud.

A more pragmatic approach is: use DeFi mechanisms to earn yields, regularly withdraw profits, and gradually convert them into risk-resistant physical assets. This is not to deny the crypto world but to acknowledge its true value—it is an efficient tool for wealth appreciation, not the ultimate destination of wealth.

In other words, DeFi is a means; life itself is the purpose. When all virtual systems go offline, only what is in your hands is real.

Well said, if the math collapses, we're all doomed. Instead of risking our lives, it's better to get out early and buy some land.

Well said, you still need to keep some real gold and silver as a backup, or it will be embarrassing when the black swan event actually happens.

nah this is just saying what everyone's been too afraid to admit... defi's just a wealth extraction mechanism, not a revolution. data literally supports this if you actually look at treasury allocations across major protocols. most "decentralized" communities are just moving money from retail to early holders lmao

You're being too harsh. If the math collapses, the private key becomes worthless paper, which I've thought about long ago. But the real problem is that most people simply can't bear to withdraw their coins to exchange for gold...

Hash collisions are purely unfounded worries, but on the other hand, buying some gold definitely makes you feel more at ease.

That's right, the day math collapsed, I went all-in on real estate. How about you?
