What is the biggest fear when doing DeFi financial management? Once the wallet is attacked, assets accumulated over many years can instantly become zero. Many people have suffered significant losses due to insufficient attention to wallet security.

In fact, the logic of wallet security is not complicated—multiple layers of protection, proactive prevention, and regular self-checks. A complete security system can help you safeguard your investment gains.

**Level 1: Wallet Selection and Initialization**

This is the starting point of protection. First, use reputable wallets. Top wallets like MetaMask and Trust Wallet have been tested by the market. Niche wallets or unofficial versions carry high risks and may contain backdoors.

Don’t be lazy with password setting. Use uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special symbols. The minimum length should be 12 characters. More importantly, do not use the same password across different platforms.

Backing up your seed phrase is the most critical step. This is essentially your wallet’s ID card—lose it, and you lose everything. Never store it in your phone album, cloud storage, or WeChat, as hackers specifically scan these places. The safest method is to write it down with pen and paper, lock it in a safe. After backing up, try restoring your wallet using the seed phrase to ensure there are no mistakes.

Another detail—turn off cloud sync during initialization to prevent the seed phrase from being secretly uploaded to the cloud.

**Level 2: Daily Operation Rules**

Simple and straightforward three no’s principle: no clicking on unfamiliar links, no scanning unknown QR codes, and no mentioning your seed phrase or private keys to anyone. These are bottom lines learned from painful lessons.

Uh, having your wallet hacked is really a nightmare. I've seen too many stories of people going back to square one overnight... Writing down the seed phrase on paper is definitely a step where you need to be very careful.

Once your wallet has been drained, you never want to go through it a second time... The three no-principles mentioned in this article are truly a painful lesson.

Oh my goodness, it's about wallet security again, a common topic but indeed important... I just didn't turn off cloud sync and got scammed once, now the shadow area is a bit large.

Oh, it's the same old story, but it's indeed a bloody lesson... Last year, that guy was caught by a phishing link, and his assets were gone in an instant.

According to research, approximately 78% of incidents where wallets are attacked resulting in asset zeroing out are due to user operational errors rather than wallet vulnerabilities. From a technical perspective, the three-layer protection architecture proposed in this article indeed covers the main risk points, but it is worth noting that—while the handwritten mnemonic suggestion is secure—it overlooks the real-world data indicating a human error rate of about 3-5%. It is recommended to perform cold wallet verification after paper backup and not to consider it done after just one attempt.

Handwritten paper backup of mnemonic phrases is absolutely essential. How many people are still storing them in the cloud? It's only a matter of time before it fails.
