Gate Announces the Renaming and Upgrade of ETH2 to GTETH

To enhance the liquidity of staked assets and optimize the investment experience, Gate is upgrading its staking token system. All derivative staking tokens will be standardized under the GT series. As part of this process, ETH2 tokens will be exchanged 1:1 and renamed to GTETH.

Upgrade Schedule

September 18, 2025, 7:30 (UTC) – September 18, 2025, 10:00 (UTC), expected to take approximately 2.5 hours

Affected Services & Adjustments

Spot Trading

During Upgrade: Trading pairs ETH2/ETH and ETH2/USDT will be temporarily suspended, and all open orders will be canceled. Other trading pairs are unaffected.
After Upgrade: ETH2 will be displayed as GTETH across all spot trading pages.

Bot Trading

During Upgrade: Spot bot trading ETH2/ETH or ETH2/USDT will be paused. All open orders and running bots will be terminated. Other trading pairs are unaffected.
After Upgrade: ETH2 will be displayed as GTETH on spot bot trading pages.

Auto-Invest

During Upgrade: ETH2 auto-invest will be temporarily suspended. Other assets are unaffected.
After Upgrade: ETH2 will be displayed as GTETH on the Auto-Invest page.

Staking

During Upgrade: The staking and redemption services of ETH2 will be suspended. Other assets are unaffected.
After Upgrade: ETH2 will be displayed as GTETH on the Staking page.

Unified Account Loan & Crypto Loan

During the Upgrade:

1. ETH2 will be removed as collateral.
2. Adding or reducing ETH2 as collateral will not be allowed.

After the Upgrade:

1. GTETH will be supported as collateral, with the same staking value as ETH2. Collateral value will follow ETH token discount rates. Please monitor your Crypto Loan LTV and Unified Account margin ratio.
2. For existing loans with ETH2 collateral, ETH2 will automatically convert 1:1 to GTETH. Repaid loans will retain ETH2 as the token name, without changes.

Notes

• During the upgrade, for loans with ETH2 collateral in Unified Account or Crypto Loan, repayment or collateral release may fail.

This upgrade will create a more unified GT asset ecosystem. After the renaming, services such as deposit, withdrawal, and internal transfers for GTETH will gradually be enabled; the exact timeline will be announced separately.
